Some garage door problems can wait for a convenient day. Others cannot. When your car is trapped inside before work, your door is stuck wide open as the sun goes down, or a spring just snapped with a bang, you need help that day.

Braxdyne Garage Door Repair provides emergency garage door repair in Sacramento and nearby cities. We are open 7am to 9pm, 7 days a week, including weekends, and we prioritize urgent calls such as trapped cars, doors that will not close and broken springs. We work on doors and openers from all major brands.

Urgent does not mean surprise pricing. Every visit starts with a $0 service call and a free estimate, and you see the price before any work begins. Every repair includes our free 21-point safety check, a 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty.

Braxdyne is not yet licensed by the CSLB (our license is in process), so we only take minor repairs under $1,000 total for parts and labor that need no permit, and we refer bigger jobs such as new doors to a licensed partner.

Signs you need emergency garage door repair

  • Your car is stuck in the garage and you need it today.
  • The door is stuck open and will not close, leaving your home unsecured.
  • A spring snapped and the door will not lift.
  • A cable broke and the door is hanging crooked.
  • The door came off track or is tilted in the opening.
  • The door fell suddenly or slammed shut.
  • The opener stopped working and the door is stuck partway.
  • The door was hit by a vehicle and will not move.

What we do on an emergency visit

  1. Talk it through on the phone. We ask what happened and help you make the area safe while you wait.
  2. Secure the door first. On arrival, we stabilize the door so it cannot fall or shift.
  3. Diagnose quickly. We find the cause, whether it is a spring, cable, track, opener or something else.
  4. Give you a clear price. You get a written price before any work starts, even on an urgent call.
  5. Fix it, or make it safe. Most urgent problems are repaired on the spot. If a part is not on hand, we focus on getting the door safely closed or your car out.
  6. Test and check. We run the door through several cycles and complete the 21-point safety check.

Car trapped inside the garage

This is one of the most stressful calls we get, and one of the most common. Often the cause is a broken garage door spring. Without the spring, the door is far too heavy to lift safely, and the opener cannot do it either.

Please do not try to force the door, prop it up with a board, or squeeze a car out under a partly open door. Call us, tell us when you need to leave, and we will do our best to get there and get you moving.

Garage door stuck open at night

A door that will not close at night leaves your home, car and belongings exposed. Common causes include blocked or misaligned safety sensors, an opener fault, a broken cable or a door that has come off track.

A few safe checks first. Make sure nothing is in the door path. Wipe the small sensor lenses near the floor and see whether both indicator lights are on. If the door still will not close, stop and call us. If it is late, lock the door between the garage and your house, and move valuables out of sight.

Broken spring emergencies

A broken spring usually announces itself with a loud bang. After that, the door feels extremely heavy, the opener strains, or the door only lifts a few inches. Do not keep pressing the button, because the opener can burn out its gears trying to lift dead weight. Leave the door closed if you can and call us. We carry common springs and can usually take care of it in one visit.

What to do until we arrive

  • Stop using the door and the opener.
  • Unplug the opener if you can reach the plug without standing under the door.
  • Keep people and pets away from the door and the opening.
  • Lock the interior door between the garage and the house if the garage door is stuck open.
  • Take a photo of the door, springs and tracks from a safe spot and text it to us.
  • Note what happened, such as a bang, a bump or a sudden stop. It helps us diagnose faster.

If something happens after 9pm, follow these steps to keep everyone safe and reach out when we open at 7am.

Safety first

Emergencies make people want to act fast, but garage door springs and cables hold enough tension to cause serious injury. We never publish do-it-yourself steps for springs or cables. Here is what not to do:

  • Do not try to adjust, unwind or remove a spring.
  • Do not touch or rethread a loose cable.
  • Do not pull the emergency release on an open door with a broken spring. It can fall fast.
  • Do not prop a door open with wood, ladders or tools.
  • Do not drive under a door that is stuck partway or crooked.
  • Do not bypass or tape over the safety sensors to force the door shut.
